VIVAnews - Ministry for the Economy voiced its concerns over food supply as the national Lebaran day approaches. As a result, the National Logistics Agency (Bulog) is urged to boost domestic production to the fullest and set out rice imports.
"We'll add up more to the rice in store," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Hatta Rajasa.
Bulog has 1.6 million tonnes of rice stock while the government still keeps in reserve 500,000 tonnes of rice. "The ideal stock is around two million tonnes," said Hatta.
He said the government guarantees that food supply for the coming fasting period is secured.
