VIVAnews - State Minister of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Mustafa Abubakar stated that the government will not rise the LPG prises of both 50 kg canisters and 12 kg canisters.
"The coordinating minister for the economy has made the decision. It's not the perfect time [for price revision]," said Mustafa on Thursday.
Earlier, board of directors of state oil and gas company Pertamina and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources agreed to increase the LPG price of 50 kg canisters by 10 percent of the current prices. The plan was expected to be executed this week.
The price revision is scheduled since Pertamina was intended to boost liquefied natural gas supply for industry. Moreover, Pertamina said it recorded Rp1 trillion of losses in the first quarter of 2011 concerning non-subsidized LPG sales.
Mustafa claimed the government remains doubtful about the amount of subsidies the the authorities must prepare to cover losses from the LPG sales.
