VIVAnews - The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) said in a statement that the growth of the nation's middle class now reaches six to seven percent per year. Bappenas Chief Armida Alisyahbana stated the surge will help boost the economy.
"The middle class is a any class of people considered as dynamic. This is good for the nation's development," she said today, July 12.
In the mean time, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) recommends several issues into consideration such as inclusive growth, modernized financial sector, organized urbanization, reduced utilization of energy and human resources, and improved governance.
According to her, the growing concern over issues on middle income trap is baseless.
"ADB reports that we are one out of the seven dynamic countries worldwide. Solid development policies and better anticipation of future chances in both regional and global levels may save us from the trap," she said.
