VIVAnews – The Indonesia Survey Circle (LSI) research shows that public confidence over Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has weakened.

Constitutional Court Chairman Mahfud MD has the opinion that the lower level of public confidence in the Commission is only natural.

"The survey was driven by a particular situation. And now, opinions are around that people couldn't control themselves," he said.

The allegations brought by fugitive of the Athlete Dorm project graft case, Muhammad Nazaruddin, on KPK being prone to bribes and is eager to manipulate cases sends more disappointment to the public. "It is natural that the public confidence is down," he said.

However, Mahfud said the survey was only part of an opinion, not a legal fact. Personally, Mahfud viewed that the KPK is still a fairly credible institution.

Mahfud acknowledged that a survey can be a reflection to measure public attitude and opinion.

"Again, opinions and facts are different. The fact is not as bad as we thought of in terms of the survey. At least, relatively, compared to others, the Commission is still the best," he said.
