VIVAnews - The government stated that it currently has idle funds in store amounting to Rp200 trillion.

Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said the funds are included in the Bank Indonesia’s monetary policies.

"It is put under the asset liability management," said Agus on Thursday, August 11, 2011.

Agus explained, the idle funds are taken from ministries and agencies’ budget constraints budgets, budget surplus (SAL), and unabsorbed budget preparation.

The government however cannot simply cash in the idle funds as sudden disbursement of funds may pump up inflation.

The nation between 2008 and 2009 saw the similar condition as it is today in the wake of global economic downturn in which state funds were channeled to banking system so as to support liquidity.
