VIVAnews – Today is the last day for the registration of new parties’s to be authorized by the Justice and Human Rights Ministry. Director of the State Administration Asyarie Syihabuddin said eight new parties have registered at his institution.
"The registration is open until midnight," he said when contacted by VIVAnews, today.
Asyarie said, following the Constitutional Court’s ruling last June which exempts old parties from registration, now the registration is only for new parties. "So the PDIP (the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle), Golkar and Democratic Party do not have to go for verification," he said.
The eight new parties that have registered are, among others Nasdem Party, Republic National Party, National Unity Party and National Archipelago Prosperity Party. "However, none of the eighth parties’ files is complete. Today, Chairperson of the National Archipelago Prosperity Party, Yenny Wahid, would complete her party’s file," said Asyarie.
