VIVAnews – Harbor Police (KSKP) of Bakauheni, South Lampung Police, took down the smuggling of 10 kilograms of first grade methamphetamine. Police discovered Malaysian international drug traffickers were involved in orchestrating the contraband.
The meth worth more than Rp20 billion was confiscated from two drug couriers named Mimi Suhemi, resident of Cakung, East Jakarta and Ridwan, resident of Kuta Blang, Bireun, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Both were caught when the authorities held a regular raid at the entrance to the harbor.
The officers in duty had suspicion on the two passengers and carried out thorough inspection over the car that the suspects used. Police spotted the illegal items kept under the seat of the modified vehicle.
The meth was packed in 10 plastic bags. "The meth was sent by an international narcotics network from Malaysia. The packages were carried across sea, passing through the Belawan Port, North Sumatra," said Lampung Police Chief, Brig. Gen. Sulistyo Ishak in Lampung, on Monday.
"Lampung is in fact an international drug trafficking hub, as it is the gateway to Sumatra island," he added.
Furthermore, Sulistyo said the two couriers were paid Rp150 million.
The meth was initially to be sent to Jakarta to someone named Cin-cin, now lined up in Police most wanted list.
The two couriers were charged with violation against the Law on Narcotics, facing life imprisonment and a fine of Rp8 billion.
