VIVAnews - Who knows what had possessed Simon Medo, a policeman of Second Police Brigadier rank serving at the Manggarai Police, East Nusa Tenggara. Tuesday afternoon, August 23, 2011, Simon was on guard duty. As the job was done, he returned to the guard post and requested a firearm type C2.
With the weapon he shot himself in the mouth. The bullet went through the skull. Simon died at a young age, 23. The townspeople of Ruteng, the capital of Manggarai, were shocked by how Simon ended his own life.
East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Police Head of Public Relations, Pol Comr Antonia Pah, said that the weapon Simon used was common for security forces in Manggarai region. "It turned out the weapon was used for suicide," said Pol. Comr Antonia Pah, Wednesday.
Antonia added that Second Pol Brig. Simon fired a bullet into his mouth, which penetrated the skull. "The victim was rushed to a local hospital, but could not be saved," he said.
Committing suicide by shooting one’s own head has occurred twice in the last four months. Previously, member of Ruteng Mobile Brigade Company C, First Brigadier Leihu Edwin, 23, also died of suicide by having self-inflicted wound to the head due to short quarrel with his girlfriend.
