VIVAnews - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Fadel Muhammad said, fishermen are in need of annual subsidized fuel of 2.5 million kiloliters.
However, currently it only provides a quota of 30 percent.
"We need 2.5 million kiloliters of fuel annually for the fishermen and we asked for the subsidized. But what they obtained from Pertamina is only 700,000 kl, one third of the supposed amount," said Fadel Muhammad, on Wednesday.
As a result, Fadel said, everywhere fishermen are dealing with fuel shortages.
Complaints are forwarded, and linked especially to Pertamina’s new policy of monthly fuel supply. In fact, such vessels as tuna fishing boats take up to three months to go on sailing.
"I sent a letter to change it. This must be mediated," he said.
In fact, the quota of 700,000 kiloliters a year, Fadel said, will not be sufficient, let alone monthly allotment.
