VIVAnews – Electronic ID cards project was launched on August 12, 2011. So far now, not a single resident of Jakarta has pocketed the e-ID card. Although the service has been partially ready, the physical form of the ID cards has not been there yet.
The Population and Civil Registration Agency of Jakarta likely still puts the program on hold as no information on the card distribution has been circulated. “The Home Affairs Ministry is responsible for the mass printing," said Department of Population and Civil Registration Head of Technology and Information, Sulistyo Prabowo, on Tuesday.
Out of 267 kelurahan (administrative village) in Jakarta, only 172 have made available the e-ID cards services. "As many as 26,090 residents have been served," he said.
He acknowledged that the constraints on the e-ID card was due to the inavailability of the supporting devices. Sulistyo claimed most administrative villages are only supplied with one set of device. In fact, the Home Affairs Ministry initially vowed to allocate two devices for each village.
"The districts which already have two devices are, among others, Menteng, Mampang and Cikoko," he said.
