VIVAnews - Today marks the seventh year of the death of respected Indonesian human rights defender, Munir Said Thalib, notably called Cak Munir. Suciwati, wife to the late Munir, said it is important to keep fighting against forgetting and the proceed with the search for a brave president.
"Our country is tired of being ruled by a president who speaks more than works seriously," said Suciwati in a conversation with VIVAnews, Wednesday.
Suciwati cited Munir case as an example, stressing on the inquiry process, investigation, and court's verdict. She believed that many things were manipulated and eliminated.
In fact, Suciwati said, some judges and prosecutors who handled Munir’s case were involved in cases of alleged graft. "Munir's case were handled by people who have no credibility," said Suciwati.
The woman who was familiarly called Suci viewed Munir’s case as already becoming a political commodity, rather than the ruling of law.
"As soon as the president was in the know of all the people behind Munir's case, he then said let the case be handed over to the law," said Suciwati. She expected the next elected president to be courageous.
