VIVAnews – A sentence of 12 years in prison was demanded for a convict of terrorism case, Abu Tholut. Prosecutors believed that Tholut was found involved in several terrorism acts in Indonesia.
“A sentence of 12 years in jail is passed to Abu Tholut,” said Tholut’s lawyer, Nurlan.
The hearing trial of terrorist with the convict of Abu Tholut was held at West Jakarta District Court, Thursday. According to Nurlan, prosecutors referred to the fourth charge. Tholut was charged on Article 15 in conjunction with Article 9 of Terrorism Crime Law.
“So, he (the prosecutor) said there was a plot of terrorism act linked to the military training in Jalin Jantho Mountains, Aceh some time ago,” said Nurlan. “Abu Tholut was also regarded as being involved in terrorism acts in Poso and West Java.”
Nurlan was of the opinion that the prosecutor’s charge was too heavy. “He wasn’t directly involved in Aceh. His name isn’t there,” he said.
The perpetrators of Aceh terrorism act were only charged with 9 years in prison. Tholut, who was not directly involved, should have been charged with less. “There are some people who were directly involved in Aceh, while Tholut was only indirectly involved,” he said.
Nurlan said Tholut’s involvement in the military training in Aceh was trifling. “Abu Tholut and Dulmatin did not get along,” he said.
“However, Tholut was requested to be in charge along with Dulmatin by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.”
