VIVAnews – The Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah questioned the government's seriousness in combating terrorism. According to Muhammadiyah Chairman Yunahar Ilyas, the suicide bombings in Bethel Injil Sepenuh Church (GBIS), Solo can no longer be called unanticipated.
"Unanticipated is only for once. But, it has been many times. Earlier there have been bomb blasts as well," said Yunahar in Yogyakarta, Friday. "In Indonesia alone bombing is like a series."
To Muhammadiyah, said Yunahar, bombing terror on the grounds of religion, politics, or social can not be justified and is a crime against religion and humanity. "There is no justification to suicide bombings that resulted in the death of innocent people."
As it has been hit by bomb explosion too often, Yunahar is concerned that Indonesia have developed resistance to bomb blast. The general public, he said, does not know exactly which bomb was detonated by terrorist and which was not. "Moreover, some bombers were caught dead, so they could not be tried and proven whether they were really terrorists or not," he added.
In relation to the Bill on Intelligence that will be a legal umbrella for the enforcement and prevention of terrorism in Indonesia, Yunahar handed it to the House. "There are pros and cons in the Intelligence Bill due to fears that it would be misused by law enforcement officials led by political interests."
