VIVAnews – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questions Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Andi Alfian Mallarangeng today. The Democratic Party politician will be re-examined in the bribery case of SEA Games athletes’ dormitory project.
"He will be examined as a witness for the suspect MN (Muhammad Nazaruddin)," KPK spokesman Johan Budi SP told VIVAnews, on Monday.
In addition to Andi, KPK will summon Nazaruddin’s older brother, Muhammad Nasir. He will also be examined as a witness for the suspect Nazaruddin. "Scheduled to be examined at 10 a.m," said Johan.
Previously, KPK had examined Andi and Nasir also as witness in the case having the suspect of Secretary of Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry, Wafid Muharram.
Andi was previously examined over a number of evidence KPK officers found when searching the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry secretary’s office. At that time, KPK confiscated money amounting to hundreds of millions of Rupiah from Wafid Muharram’s office. In addition, KPK found a check for Rp3.2 billion, also cash of Rp73.171 million, US$128,148, Aus $1,370, and 1,955 euros in envelopes.
In this case, the KPK has declared four suspects. They are Nazaruddin, Wafid Muharram, Mindo Rosalina Manulang and Mohammad El Idris. Rosa and Idris have been ruled guilty. They were sentenced to 2.5 years and 2 years in prison respectively. While Wafid is still undergoing trial.
