VIVAnews - Information and Communications Minister Tifatul Sembiring claimed being summoned by the president to Cikeas not for the talks on cabinet reshufle. Tifatul said he was called to resolve the tension between Justice and Prosperous Party (PKS) and Democrat Party.
According to the former PKS chairman, claims made by a number of his party functionaries worsened the situation.
PKS Secretary General Anis Matta is one of those who produced scathing remark related to the reshuffle. His statement which then became controversial was that the motive of cabinet reshuffle is not for the improve in performance, but rather raising election logistics.
So, is it true that Tifatul has expressed Yudhoyono’s discontent toward Anis Matta?
"I was not given such a notice, not at all. Nothing came to me until now," said Anis Matta, in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Not only Tifatul, two other PKS ministers called by the President have not reported about the talks in Cikeas either. "We have not talked to the summoned ministers, because we're all out of office," he said.
Therefore, Anis continued, it is irrelevant to question whether or not PKS is ready to withdraw from the coalition. According to him, there has not been any formal discussion between SBY and decision makers in his party about the cabinet reshuffle to date.
"The question (ready for the opposition) is not relevant. What to address, if there has been no formal discussion. Many issues are circulating among the public, but nothing official has reached us," he said.
Anis confirmed, his party has never threatened to step down from the coalition. "No, we do not threaten to withdraw from the coalition. What we conveyed is the general appraisal on the reshuffle," he said.
Anis then explained that initially the issue of reshuffle was raised by president’s special staff and spokesperson. They said that the reshuffle is necessary because the cabinet’s performance was declining.
