VIVAnews - Over three hours of torrential downpours in Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, resulted in flooding in South Banawa Subdistrict, on Friday.
Chief of Information Center and spokesperson of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, said the Sarumana River water levels rose due to the excessive rains. In addition to flooding homes, the flood also killed three people.
"The dead victims are Sinim, 70, Neti, 8, and Neli, 5," said Sutopo today.
72 houses were severely destroyed and 44 others showed slight damages. Two bridges connecting the nearby subdistricts have been washed away. Moreover, a market in the vicinity is now gone after it was battered by the flooding.
