VIVAnews – Defendants Dian Yudha Negara and Randy Lester Samu, today, Tuesday, were not guilty of charges on illegal iPad sales at the Central Central Jakarta District Court
The two defendants’ lawyer, Victor Dedi Sukma, earlier said that he was certain his clients will escape the prosecutor’s charge. The verdict trial was suspended for a week as the judges’ verdict was not completed.
“The judges must acquit the defendants as the expert witness in the trial showed that the prosecutor’s charge is very weak and the accusation of violating the Consumer’s Protection Law is incongruous,” Victor told VIVAnews, Tuesday.
Victor believed that during the trial, there were a lot of inconsistencies in the investigator’s statements. Thus, he hoped the judge can meticulously conclude the verdict according to the facts revealed in the trial.
“Considering the facts and evidence revealed in the trial,” he said. The lawyer team had already decided to file an appeal if today’s ruling is not acquittal.
Upon hearing the verdict, Dian and Randy shook the hands of the judges, lawyers and prosecutors.
"I'm extremely glad of hearing the final verdict. It's God's will," Randy said.
Randy and Dian had to be brought to court after being caught by undercover police officer for selling a few units of iPad which did not include Indonesian language manual book through an online shopping website. The two young men were selling two units of iPad, each was tagged at Rp6.6 million for 16Gb iPad and Rp8.5 million for 64Gb.
