VIVAnews - Anticorruption Court sentenced Prosecutor Cirus Sinaga five years in prison. However, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has yet to dismiss him from his post.
"This week we will first mull over it because the decision is not yet made. I will not make assumptions," AGO spokesman, Noor Rachmad, told reporters on Tuesday.
Noor explained the force of law has not been fixed because Cirus filed an appeal against the verdict.
Attorneys’ and head of District Attorney’s recommendations will be taken into account. The South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s recommendation is needed because Cirus Sinaga is non-active prosecutor of intelligence section at the South Jakarta District Attorney.
Cirus was found guilty of hampering corruption investigation by the accused, then Gayus Tambunan, an employee of the Directorate General of Taxes.
Besides being sentenced to five years, Cirus was also required to pay a fine of Rp150 million.
