VIVAnews- Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said the number of transactions of domestic tourists this year will exceed Rp154 trillion. This estimation is based on the trends of average domestic tourist trips in early 2011.
"This is held up by tourism branding and promotion in the country," said Director of Domestic Tourism Promotion, Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, M Faried.
In the past year alone, Faried said, the number of tourists’ transactions reached Rp150.49 trillion. The number was resulted from the 122.31 million domestic tourists who made 234.38 million trips. "If we look at the trend of domestic tourist trips to the second quarter, I am sure it will exceed Rp154 trillion," said Faried.
Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists has also increased from year to year. In 2010, the number of foreign tourists reached 7.002 million, a rise of 10.74 percent compared to 2009. Foreign tourist visit in 2010 produced transaction amounting to U$7.6 billion. "In 2011 we expect it will reach US$7.7 million, an increase of 10 percent," said Faried.
