VIVAnews - Scores of nails, one hypodermic needle, and a tiny aluminum bar were found implanted in the calves of a three-year old girl named Safira. Other metal pieces were still trapped between her abdomen and back. It is still unknown how or when the materials got in her limbs.
"The first time we knew it was when we saw a swelling in her right calf several weeks ago," Wawan, Safira's uncle, told VIVAnews.
Detailed examination showed that the girl's calves bore a number of swellings.
"We believe that the swollen calves contained metal pieces. When we touched both calves, more swellings were discovered," he said.
Safira and her mom, Syarifah, lives on Jalan Reformasi, Parepare, South Sulawesi. Upon seeing the swollen calves, the family took Safira to the hospital.
"We brought her to Pare-pare Hospital for a check-up," said Wawan.
"[The x-ray scan] shows a positive result. There are metal pieces in Safira's calves," said Wawan.
Direktur RSUD Pare-pare dr Jamal, menegaskan bahwa kasus jenis ini baru
The doctor failed to diagnose the kind of disease that Safira suffers. He believes that no medical explanation can be applied to the case.
"It is impossible for the metal pieces to be deliberately implanted in the calves," the doctor, Jamal, said.
