VIVAnews - Eight subdistricts in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra, were hit by flash flood on Wednesday. The disaster killed six people and destroyed 51 homes. Three victims were residents of Lengayang Subdistrict while the remaining were from Ranah Pesisir Subdistrict.
"We have six people listed on the death toll," said spokesperson of West Sumatra disaster mitigation agency, Pessel Nasariadi.
The following are the dead victims from the flash flood:
1. Kibit, male, 60;
2. Rayos, male, 30;
3. Azil, male, 1;
4. Symtia, female, 22;
5. Ismaidarnis, female, 32; and
6. Melia, female, 6.
Given their state of missing as of yesterday, the six victims were pronounced dead by the disaster mitigation team. Kibit, Rayos, and Azil were lost in the river. "One of them survives. The three mentioned were washed into the strong current. They have yet to be located," said Nasariadi
The three female victims were residents of Pasir Putih, Lengayang Subdistrict, whose homes were devastated by the flood.
