VIVAnews - Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy registers two items of intangible national heritage to UNESCO namely Sasando, a traditional musical instrument from East Nusa Tenggara, and Noken, Papua's bag.
"Both items will soon disappear, for there are not many people playing Sasando and making Noken anymore," Budi Priyadi, the ministry's spokesperson, said.
"We're hoping that UNESCO would accept our proposal," he said.
Budi said UNESCO has listed several cultural heritages of Bali. Nonetheless, compared to other nations, many of Indonesia's cultural and natural heritages have yet to be registered to UNESCO. "Japan and Korea have more items in the UNESCO's list of heritage," he said.
"[UNESCO] will announce its decision on Sasando and Noken by 2013. This year, we're looking forward to have their nod on Saman Dance [of Aceh]," he said.
