VIVAnews - Three Indonesian women of human trafficking victims are now safe under close police monitoring in Limbang, Sarawak, Malaysia, after a gang of rapists locked them up for three months in a home.
The Malaysian authorities also arrested five alleged traffickers in Ranggau Phase 2 housing area on Sunday, Nov 13. At around 6 a.m local time, four locals and a foreigner were picked up by the police.
District Police Chief, Ins. Bukhori Saffai, said the three victims of between 19 and 32 years of age had been forced to have sex with the suspects within the last three months.
Bukhori said a maid agency sent the victims from Indonesia to Malaysia, promising them to be employed at homes or factories. However, they finally ended up being trapped in a red district area in Limbang.
"The victims indeed realized that they were victims of scam. They tried to get away from the perpetrators. But the effort proved unsuccessful," said Bukhori as quoted from Borneo Post, today.
The victims managed to escape on Friday, Nov 11, then filed a report to the police. "Based on the report, we launched a raid on the culprit's home," said Bukhori.
