VIVAnews – Aceh has just witnessed another armed violence. Palm oil company workers in Krueng Jawa, the inland of Geureudong Pase Sub-district, North Aceh had been targets of gunshots. Three people were gunned down while five others were hospitalized in Cut Mutia Lhokseuwame local hospital.
The shootings took place on Sunday night, Dec 4, around 11 p.m. At that time, some plantation workers were watching television at their shelters. The gunmen showed up and aimed random shots at the workers straightaway. After the shooting, the gunmen ran away.
The victims were listed as Hery, Karno, and Sugeng – all three were orgininally from Lawang Hill, Langkat, North Sumatra.
Among the injured victims were Samin and Misman. They also came from Lawang Hill. Another victim was Harapan, from Peureulak, East Aceh and Erik, from Bangka Jaya, Dewantara, North Aceh. One of the victims with minor injuries was Ari Fandi, from Meunasah Mesjid, Muara Dua, Lhokseumawe.
Chief of Aceh Police Department, Ins. Gen. Iskandar Hasan, stated that the case is still under serious investigation. The police believe economic problem has been the main motive in the crime.
“Many people who don't have enough skills are not hired and became hostile,” said Iskandar Hasan, today.
He said that the gunmen used AK-47. This is based on the findings of shell casings at the crime scene.
“We are still investigating the case. We still have not found out the motives behind the attack,” he said.
