VIVAnews – It is a pity when the government does not pay attention to historical sites. One of the abandoned buildings is a remnant from the Dutch troops dated 1936 in Iluta Village, Batudaa Subdistrict in Gorontalo Province.

The front part depicts the clean look of the building. However, deeper exploration through the building shows that the backyard gives unpleasant sight. There are animal wastes and drinking bottles packed in plastic sacks.  These sacks are piled up behind the back of this historical building.

From the signboard, the building is called the Museum of Amphibious Plane Landing.  To VIVAnews, Mamin, the undertaker of the building said that back in 1950, President Soekarno set foot in Gorontalo, so this building is more notable as Soekarno’s House.

“Soekarno rested in this building before he headed to Gorontalo’s city hall.  He rested here,” he said.

A local tourist, Vita (22) a college student from Bolang Mongodow, North Sulawesi, said she regretted that the building is not well maintained.  “It will be very nice if the building is kept clean, so it will leave a good impression to foreign tourists,” said Vita.

Because of the lack of maintenance, it is not a surprise when mystical stories arise about the building.  Hence, the haunted feeling about the building which is located 10 km west of Gorontalo surfaced.

Moreover, according to Mamin, the building was previously used by the Dutch administration to confine their prisoners back in 1936.  Not only that, the prisoners were also shot dead in this place.
