VIVAnews – Police are looking into the possible negligence factor behind the collapse of Kutai Kartanegara Bridge. After conducting marathon investigations to 32 witnesses and collecting enough evidence, police have now named the suspect.

According to Chief of East Kalimantan Police Department, Ins. Gen. Bambang Widaryatmo, The marathon investigations involved many parties. “We have questioned 32 witnesses,” he told VIVAnews on Monday, Dec 5.
Bambang said the suspect is named following the nature of the action based on Article 359 of the Penal Code and Article 360 on Negligence Causing Injured and Dead Victim. “We already have the suspects in our pocket,” said the former KPK Investigation Director.
Other than preparing the charges, police are also reconstructing the bridge’s construction back to the start. Police trace the process in which the main cause of the collapse of the bridge can be identified. .
“We are looking back to the early phase at the beginning of the bridge’s construction,” Bambang said.
“If anyone asks about who will be the most likely to be named the suspect, then either the developer or the maintenance contractor can be listed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kukar’s Police Chief Adj. Chief. Comm. Gusti Kade Budhi Haryasana said that police will issue the second notice to PT. Bukaka Teknik Utama (BKU)’s Operational Director, Sofiah Balfas.
“There must be clear explanation of why she did not show up. According to the procedure, we will issue the second notice,” he said on another occasion.
