More Bureaucrats Should Present Wealth Report

VIVAnews – Corruption Eradication Commission stated that to anticipate civil servants having bank accounts, more categories must be applied on which civil servants must report their personal wealth.  All this time, the submission has been mandatory only for state administrators. 

“All this time, the only people who are obligated to report their wealth are limited to Echelon I and II, whereas their subordinates or functional are not in the list,” said KPK Deputy Head, Haryono Umar, today, Dec 8. 

Provided the findings of Financial Transaction Report and Analysis Center (PPATK) on suspicious bank accounts owned by low-ranking civil servants, according to Haryono, the wealth reporting system must be expanded in terms of categories.  

“The Finance Ministry and the Police have already improved the classification,” he said. 

What items are to be reported? 

Haryono explained that other than personal wealth, a person must report the fortune owned her/his their spouse. Moreover, possessions on behalf of their children must also be included in the report.  

“Within the last 30 years, there have been 30 questionable cases and they have been acted upon,” he said. 

PPATK stated that there are Grade III B civil servants with billions of rupiah deposited in their bank accounts.

“There are two young Grade III B civil servants of between 28 and 38 of age and they were making a fictitious projects and gaining billions of rupiah from them,” said PPATK Deputy Head, Agus Susanto.
