AGO to Question Three Tax Officers

VIVAnews – The Attorney General's Office (AGO) continues to investigate the alleged corruption case of Information Management System Procurement committed by several officers in the Directorate General of Taxes. AGO has summoned three tax officers for questioning.

“We are planning to question three tax officers,” said AGO spokesman, Noor Rachmad.

Noor Rachmad did not mention about the scheduled hour set for the session. The three officers will be examined as witnesses.

In this alleged corruption case that has caused the nation to lose Rp12 billion, AGO has named and arrested two suspects from the Directorate General of Taxes. 

The first suspect is of the initial of B, the head of the procurement of Information Management System. B was arrested under the investigation order no. 152/f2/fd1/11/2011, dated November 3, 2011.

Another suspect is of the initial of PS. PS was arrested under the investigation order no. 153/f2/fd1/11/2011, dated November 3, 2011.

This case was revealed by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in 2006 and the value is worth Rp43 billion.  From the finding, there was about Rp 12 billion worth of gap out of the total Rp43 billion.  BPK also suspected that some equipments were allegedly not purchased during the procurement process. 

Based on their crime, AGO will charge the suspects with Article 2 and 3 of Anti-Corruption Law and Presidential Decree No.8 on the procurement of goods and services. 

Director General of Taxes, Fuad Rachmany, said that the corrupted fund was aimed for buying supporting goods.
