VIVAnews – The Democratic Party denied allegations saying that party cadres channel billions of rupiah worth of funding to the party.  The party said that the fund has been in accordance with the regulations.

“The party never receives such donations. Any fund sent to the party is already in line with the regulations,” said Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Saan Mustofa, today, Dec 14.

Saan said that the rumor of Rp 25.6 billion donation to the party is not true.  The donation was said as having the party’s high-ranking official as its source. Saan claimed that it is the regulation on party funding that should have been paid the most attention.

According to Saan, the regulation on party funding has been part of Political Party Law.

“In the future, both issues should use different laws,” he said.

Following trial at the Anti-Corruption Court yesterday, Democratic Party’s former treasurer, Muhammad Nazaruddin, said he was not against the accusation that he had deposited Rp13 billion to the party.

“I have reported about the issue,” Nazaruddin said after the trial.

To date, member of Democratic Party’s Board of Trustee, Achmad Mubarok, put stress on the similar issue. He said that in the last period, the party’s main officials’ contribution to Democratic Party reached Rp100 million per year per person.

“The main officials contributed Rp100 million per year per person back then.  However, since I did not have enough money, my friends paid it for me.  I just received the receipt,” said Mubarok.
