According to Deputy Director of Jakarta Traffic Police, Adj. Chief. Comm. Wahyono, the authorities will trace the perpetrators.

“We are teaming up with other police departments to hunt the suspects. In 2011, police arrested 3 people: 2 were accused of spreading the nails and 1 was a tire repairer,” Wahyono said on Tuesday, Jan 10.

He said that the nail spreaders and the tire repairers were allegedly to have conspired, but not all tire repairers were involved in this type of crime.

The lack of police personnel have hampered the investigation as nail spreaders can now recognize police's patterns.  “In the beginning, we inspected every morning and afternoon.  We will modify the operations by applying random sampling,” he said.
