VIVAnews – Corruption seemingly continues to plague Indonesia. Almost every individual from any walk of life says that corruption is widespread throughout the nation's government and businesses.

To overcome the plague, the government will not stand still. The nation's anti-graft bureau Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was founded during the administration of President Megawati Soekarnoputri. However, many corruption cases, money laundering and other frauds continue to rise until today.

What has become the issue in preventing and eradicating corruption?
“Organized crimes (money laundering and corruption), in a number of cases involved officials/law enforcement,” said Head of PPATK, Muhammad Yusuf.

Moreover, Yusuf said that intellectual actors who oftentimes indirectly involved in the crime have become a problem of its own. They have lengthened the crime chain to break the evidence chain.

“Locus delicti is cross border. Tools to commit crimes have become more advanced. Law has oftentimes lagged,” he said.

Former Deputy Director of KPK, Candra M Hamzah, stated that one solution to eradicate corruption and to limit crime fund is to establish new regulations about cash transaction.

“We need a ruling which restricts cash and carry transaction. We must build a system that prevents cash transactions by creating restrictive regulations to prevent corruption,” he said.
