VIVAnews – Prosecutors charged 5 suspects of the suicide bombing in Alzikro Mosque, which is situated at Cirebon Police compound, with 10 years of imprisonment. The prosecutors pronounced that the five suspects were involved in the bombing terror which killed the bomber, M. Syarif.
Three suspects, namely Ahmad Basuki a.k.a Uki bin Abdul Ghofur (25), Mardiansyah a.k.a Ferdi, and Arif Budiman were trialed in Tangerang court. Two other suspects, namely Andri Siswanto a.k.a Ujang (32) and Musola a.k.a Saifullah (35) were also put to the same court, only in different room.
“All five suspects were charged with 10 years of imprisonment, less than the previous charge of 20 years of imprisonment,” prosecutor Bambang Suharyadi told VIVAnews on Wednesday, Jan 11.
Based on court facts from the defendants’ and witnesses’ statements, the five defendants were members of a network. They purposefully made, assembled and exploded the bomb in the mosque. The remains of the bomb were saved by the defendants. This has sparked public panic and unrest.
“The crime aspects have been proven. The defendants participated in the crime and were equally charged,” he said.
Suharyadi said that the prosecutors had considered the incriminating factor namely that the defendants were not supporting the government in eradicating terrorists and complicated the trial. Meanwhile, the defendants were also showing good behavior, regretted their actions and promised not to repeat the actions.
The defendants were related in the crime. Mardiansyah took part from the beginning along with the suicide bomber in assembling the bomb and pen gun that was exploded by the suicide bomber, M. Syarif.
Meanwhile, the bomb remains were stored by Arif Budiman to be delivered to Ahmad Basuki. However, Ahmad Basuki refused because he was afraid and delivered it back to Arief Budiman. Arief Budiman then met Andri Siswanto and Musola. Both of them suggested they throw the remains of the explosived to a river.
