VIVAnews – Hundreds of people burnt a number of houses in Napal Village, Sidomulyo, South Lampung on Tuesday, Jan 24.  The situation is now under control.

“The authorities cleaned up the burnt houses on Wednesday morning. The local government has also recorded and measured the buildings and calmed down the public,” said Police spokesperson, Chief. Comm. Boy Rafli. 

Moreover, religious leaders were also giving speeches and instructions for the public to keep aware of firebrands.

“If any misleading information is found, please report to the local authorities,” Boy said. 

Hundreds of police personnel were deployed in efforts to secure the area.

The incident occurred last Sunday in Sidomulyo market. Several people were involved in an argument which led to a fight.  

“One person started to hit and then the fight or dispute began in the parking lot, but the dispute was resolved.  However, later that night, 400 people came to the village. The Chief of South Lampung Police managed to tell them to go home,” said Lampung Police spokesperson, Adj. Chief. Comm. Sulistyaningsih.

Then on Monday at 5 PM, a car driver was stopped (not known from which group) in Sidomulyo, South Lampung. 

“On Tuesday, 150 people came to Sidomulyo village and burnt down several houses, but the situation has been resolved now,” he said.

Two villagers from Napal Village were injured.  Another 2 victims from Kota Dalam suffered minor injuries and are hospitalized.
