VIVAnews - The music of simakDialog may be categorized as adult contemporary jazz influenced mostly by European jazz style with a mixture of ethnic Indonesian music. The instrumentations are a blend of acoustic and electric idioms.
simakDialog has participated in many jazz events in Indonesia, including JakJazz (Jakarta Jazz Festival) from 1994 to 1997. In 2003, simakDialog received awards from Anugerah Musik Indonesia (Indonesian Music Awards): Best Jazz/Contemporary Jazz Album (for Trance/Mission) and Best Jazz/Contemporary Jazz Producer (Riza Arshad, Trance/Mission).
In its current formation—Riza Arshad (piano), Tohpati Ario Hutomo (guitars), Adhitya Pratama (bass), Endang Ramdan (sundanese tabla), Erlan Suwardana (sundanese tabla), and Cucu Kurnia (ceng-ceng, kethuk, rebana, sundanese tabla, angklung)—simakDialog has performed in a number of jazz events in Indonesia, such as World Java Jazz International Festival 2005/2006.
