VIVAnews – Jakarta Police investigators charged Afriyani Susanti (29), the suspect of the deadly accident that killed nine pedestrians on Jalan MI Ridwan Rais, Tugu Tani, Central Jakarta, with murder.
“We are taking into consideration Article 338. Surely we are going to charge the suspect using the article,” said spokesperson of Jakarta Police Department, Chief. Comm. Rikwanto, in Jakarta, today.
According to Rikwanto, any pros and cons regarding the implementation of this article will be proven in the trial.
The reason for using the article is due to the statements provided by the witnesses and the chronology of the incident
“Afriyani will be charged using Article 310, 311 and 338 of the Penal Code. She will be facing 15 years of imprisonment according to the murder charges,” said Rikwanto.
Meanwhile, Afriyani’s attorney, Efrizal, said that he did not recognize that Afriyani will be charged using Article 338.
Afriyani has been named the main suspect in this fatal accident. She was confirmed guilty of driving without car registration and driver’s license as well as damaging public facility and terminating human lives.
