VIVAnews – Chief of National Police, Gen. Timur Pradopo, gave a special attention to labor protests in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. Timur asked the protesters not to spoil public order. If things get out of hand, he said, police will not hesitate in taking firm actions against the protesters.
“If it endangers human lives, then it will be stopped,” said Timur today, Feb 3.
According to Timur, labors must hold peace protests. If more protests to come shake up public order, then they would be deemed crimes.
“Once again, we are warning the protesters, especially the workers, that they are allowed to protest. But they should not break down people's activities,” he said.
Earlier, thousands of workers in Bekasi protested against Indonesia Employers Association (Apindo) to revoke its lawsuit over minimum wage revision decree. Thousands of workers closed toll roads. Traffic was completely shut down.
Following the protest of Bekasi’s workers, the Tangerang labor union also plans to hold a protest for the same cause, which is for Apindo to revoke its lawsuit of minimum wage revision decree in Banten Court.
Although, an agreement to set up a meeting, facilitated by Minister of Manpower & Transmigration, Muhaimin Iskandar, the workers have yet to call off their plan.
