Rising GDP, Indonesia's Economy May Speed Up

VIVAnews – The improve in Indonesia’ per capita income of more than US$ 3,000 is figured to help accelerate the nation's economic growth. 

“We must continue monitoring the global crisis,” said Finance Minister, Agus Martowardojo, in Jakarta. 

Minister Agus said Indonesia focuses not only on the per capita income, but distribution of growth. “We believe that inclusive development is possible,” he said. 

Earlier, Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed data that Indonesia’s per capita income within the past three years has touched an average of 12.9 percent per year. 

Acting Head of BPS, Suryamin, in a press statement on Monday, Feb 6, said Indonesia’s economic growth in 2011 hit 6.5 percent. 

BPS said Indonesia’s GDP in 2011 reached Rp 7,427.1 trillion.

Indonesia’s economic growth in 2011 was mostly contributed by exports at 13.6 percent and imports at 13.3 percent. 

Indonesia’s GDP structure in 2011 mostly came from domestic expenditures of 54.6 percent, PMTB of 32 percent, export of 26.3 percent, government consumption of 9 percent, and import of minus 24.9 percent.

However, the achieved target of Indonesia’s economic growth at 6.5 percent will likely lead the nation to experience shortage in natural resources.
