VIVAnews - Yawadwipa Companies, on Tuesday, Feb 7, sent an official bidding request to PT Danareksa Sekuritas. Deputy House Speaker, Pramono Agung, said the purchase of the bank formerly known as Bank Century is a political act.
"The person (buyer) must be informed of both the economic and political aspects," said Pramono in the House of Representatives, today, Feb 9.
According to Pram, it is not possible for a common person or a rich man - who only considers gaining profit - to purchase this unhealthy bank.
"If only the person has business consideration without inside information, he would not have dared to make the purchase," he said.
Pram is certain that an insider leaked the benchmark price of Mutiara Bank. He said it is possible that the company that buys the bank is only a vehicle.
"It's probably used for money laundering," he said.
Yawadwipa, which was established on January 9, 2012, offered US$750 million to acquire the bank. The amount is equal to the government's bailout fund through the Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS) in 2008.
In addition to money laundering, Pramono also suspected an attempt of buying back the bank's assets. He added that if the government really wants to release Mutiara Bank then it must retrace the buyer's actions.
Pram also suspects that the person who desires to purchase this bank is someone who wants to take advantage of the situation because Mutiara Bank has been re-organized.
The government is also requested to take caution in determining the buyer of Mutiara Bank. "I think that it is not the time to sell Mutiara yet," he said.
