“Although the number went down drastically, 17.3 percent of voters would still choose SBY if he gets nominated in the 2014 elections,” said Chief of Political & International Relations Department of CSIS, Philips J Vermonte, today.

The survey was conducted on January, 16-24 with 2,117 respondents through random sampling, starting from regency level until household and individual level in 23 provinces.  Approximately 41.7 percent of the respondents stated that they haven’t decided their preferred presidential candidates yet.

According to Philips, the general public today are still controlled by the disappointment over the government.

“In a situation like this, opposition leaders would get support from the people who are disappointed at the incumbent's works,” he said.

The support towards the non-incumbents party figures, especially Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto is worth to observe.

“It is also important to notice that the two dominant opposition figures would have two different tracks toward the 2014 elections,” said Philips.
