VIVAnews – Bulan Purnama boat, which carried 4 Australians, was finally found in Serangan Port, Denpasar, this morning. The boat experienced engine failure.
The 60-ton and 24 meters-length boat was reported to have lost contact while cruising on the waters of Nusa Lembongan, Klunkungan, Bali, since Sunday, Feb 19. When found, all passengers, including three crew members, were in good condition.
After floating in the waters for almost 24 hours, the captain and crew members tried to repair and start the engine. The effort turned out to be successful. On Monday night, the captain also succeeded in contacting the boat owner, Jeffry, and informed the coordinate of the boat and the revived engine.
“The boat owner, Jerry, passed the information to the SAR team in Denpasar,” said the Head of SAR Operations in Denpasar, I Ketut Gede Ardana, Tuesday, Feb 21.
Apparently, the wooden boat which departed Benoa Harbor around 5.50 AM local time was washed away by sea currents as far as 60 miles south of Nusa Lembongan. It happened when the engine experienced failure. Around 4 AM this morning, the boat which carried four foreign tourists (one woman and three men) successfully docked in Serangan.
