60 Stock Members Allowed in Margin Trading

VIVAnews - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) stated that there will only be around 58-60 stock exchange members that can have margin trading according to the new regulation implemented by the stock authorities. Based on the previous regulation, 62 stock exchange members were allowed to make margin trading.

"Sarijaya has been inactive," said IDX Director of Share Trade, Research, and Business Development MS Sembiring at the stock exchange building in Jakarta on Friday, May 1.

He went on to say that the IDX can neither evaluate the margin trading nor short selling yet, which has only been implemented today. The evaluation will be ready on Monday, May 4.

However, he also said that PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) has proved rise in price and trading several days earlier.

He claimed that the listing of both Bumi and PT Bakrieland Development Tbk. (ELTY) shares in the margin trading and short selling is due to the shares' compliance with the new regulation.
