Standard Chartered Targets 90 Pct Growth

VIVAnews - Standard Chartered Bank expects the increase of the small medium enterprise (SME) credit growth by 90 percent in 2009. The bank will focus on supporting the middle-sized enterprises of export and import.

Standard Chartered will be more focused on financing as well as cooperation with middle-sized enterprises with a yearly turnover of Rp 100 billion to Rp 250 billion.

The bank's segmentation for SME financing is different from local banks as explained by Vice Corporate General Manager of Indonesia Small Medium Enterprise Standard Chartered Bank Indonesia Tonny Timor Basri in Jakarta on Friday, May 29. In addition to financing services, Standard Chartered offers solutions to the costumers concerning appropriate loan options, market updates, educating seminar which enables L/C transaction.

"Most of the SMEs do not understand which documents that may benefit their businesses. Therefore, we help educate them," he said.

Standard Chartered targeted more than 90 percent growth by early 2009. Until March 2009, the SME credit growth was still on track, while the percentage in April had slightly decreased.
