Jakarta, VIVA – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to participate in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States, in September 2025. His upcoming attendance reflects Indonesia's growing engagement in global diplomacy.

The announcement was made by Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2025. He confirmed the President's commitment to being present at the international gathering.

"God willing, the President will attend the UN General Assembly this September," Hasan told reporters. He emphasized that this marks another step in Indonesia’s active international participation.

Hasan highlighted that President Prabowo has consistently engaged with the world stage since assuming office. Over the past nine months, he has attended major multilateral forums that shape global cooperation.

Among the notable summits Prabowo has participated in are the G20 Summit, APEC Summit, BRICS Summit, ASEAN Summit, D-8 Summit, and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). According to Hasan, Indonesia has earned significant respect from the international community under Prabowo’s leadership.

"Virtually all major global forums have seen our President’s presence," Hasan noted. He added that this active diplomacy underscores Indonesia's commitment to being a constructive player in world affairs.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Puan Maharani also weighed in on the matter. She responded to previous criticisms by former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan regarding Indonesia’s leadership being frequently absent from key international events.

Puan argued that such critiques likely referred to past administrations. She expressed confidence that under President Prabowo, Indonesia’s representation on the global stage would improve substantially.

"I believe President Prabowo will be more present at international platforms like the UN," she told journalists at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Puan expressed optimism about Indonesia’s diplomatic visibility moving forward.
