VIVAnews - PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) said HM Sampoerna will switch off several of its production machines as a response to the issue concerning Sampoerna's plan to shift production from PT Sampoerna JL Sdn Bhd in Malaysia to the company.
"On the agreed day, the company will release or sell several old machineries as well as the land plot and building," said HM Sampoerna Corporate Secretary Suartini Harintho on Thursday, Jan 21.
According to him, the release of the company's assets in Sampoerna JL will be carried out in line with the law and regulations.
The plan is concerned with the relocation of production facilities from Malaysia to Indonesia.
"The board of directors believe that it will be of benefit for the company because of the lower import duty," he said.
However, Suartini acknowledged that the costs for realizing the plan, including paying workers' severance pay, are immaterial.
