VIVA – The government of Depok City will close the Dewi Sartika crossing temporarily starting next week. The policy was carried out to support the Dewi Sartika underpass project, which is in the process of working on a solution to traffic jams in Depok currently.
Head of the Traffic Division of the Depok City Transportation Service, Marbudi, said the closure would last for 7 months, from May 17 until December 31, 2022.
"The Traffic Closure and Traffic Engineering will start on May 17, 2022 at 11 PM until December 31, 2022," said Marbudi in a statement quoted on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Budi said that during the closure, traffic engineering would be implemented to anticipate congestion. The traffic engineering, among others, applies two directions on Nusantara Raya Street and Dewi Sartika.
"For the driver of a motorcycle who wants to go to Margonda Street from Pitara Street, they cannot go to Dewi Sartika directly," said Budi.
Later, drivers heading to Margonda Street from Pitara Street will be diverted by Raya Sawangan Street. Then, later cross the bridge in front of the Setia Negara School and then turn to Salak Raya Street to go to Sengon Simpang Lima. Then, you can go to Dewi Sartika Street or turn left to Jalan Nusantara Raya Street.
Next, the driver of motorcycle from Raya Sawangan Street to Raya Margonda Street must cross the bridge in front of the Setianegara School. Then, continue on Salak Raya Street and Simpang Lima Sengon.
"Meanwhile, those from Rambutan Street who want to go to Raya Sawangan Street, can’t go straight to the front bridge of the Setia Negara School but have to turn left to Salak Raya Street, turn around at Simpang Lima Sengon," said Budi.
Furthermore, he also said, although Nusantara Street was implemented in two directions, drivers from Dewi Sartika who want to go to Nusantara Street couldn’t turn right immediately. "
The drivers have to go to Raya Sawangan Street then turn right at the bridge in front of the Setia Negara School," said Budi.
Then, access to Margonda Raya from Dewi Sartika will be directed by Naming D Bothin Street (parallel to the rail) to Arif Rahman Hakim Street.
"Future developments will be evaluated," said Budi.
For information, the construction of the Dewi Sartika Underpass is planned by the Depok City Government in collaboration with the West Java Provincial Government.
The construction of the underpass has started in February 2022. This project is targeted to be completed in 10 months or in December 2022.
The development carried out by PT Nindya Karya cost up to Rp288 billion. The details are Rp180 billion for land acquisition from the Depok City APBD and Rp108 billion for construction from the West Java Provincial Budget.
