VIVA – Central Lombok has inaugurated a new circuit for motocross this week. The circuit name is Lantan 459 International Motocross Circuit.
The Indonesian Motorcycle Association or locally known as IMI West Nusa Tenggara will seek to bring the Asian Motocross Championship to Central Lombok (Loteng). The Lantan 459 International Motocross Circuit will be the venue for the event. This was conveyed by the Chairman of IMI NTB, Dr. H. Lalu Herman Mahaputra on Monday, 9 May 2022.
If the Motor Cross Grand Prix (MXGP) will be held at the Samota Circuit, Sumbawa, then the Lantan Circuit is expected for the Asian Motocross Championship to be held.
The chairman of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) West Nusa Tenggara, Lalu Herman Mahaputra will try to lobby for the Asian motocross race to be held at the new circuit.
"We will try to lobby the Federation Internationale De Motocyclisme Asia so that we can hold the Asian championship there (Lantan Circuit)," he said, Wednesday on May 11, 2022.
Not only that, the regional championships and national championships in the future will be held at the Lantan Circuit. "Including regional and national championships," he added.
Herman also added that the most significant thing right now is that West Nusa Tenggara has two motocross circuits and maybe it’s the first one.
He conveyed the high appreciation for the regional government’s bravery. In this case, the Regent of Loteng who is brave enough to build an international standard motocross circus.
The existence of the motocross circuit in Loteng, his team hopes that it can be a place for fostering potential regional racers. Which in the end will be able to excel not only in the West Nusa Tenggara arena, but also nationally and even internationally.
For now, the Indonesian Motorcycle Association still focused on preparing for the MXGP (Motocross Grand Prix) in Sumbawa. The world motocross championship or Motocross Grand Prix will be held at the Samota Circuit on June 24 to June 26, 2022.
All of the preparations to welcome MXGP have been made, ranging from facilities and infrastructure to various events that will enliven MXGP.
As information, MXGP is one of the most prestigious motocross automotive championships in the world.
