VIVA – President Joko Widodo visiting United States to attend several agendas, one of them was a meeting with President United States, Joe Biden. On Thursday, May 12, 2022 local time, Jokowi attended an invitation to a dinner between leaders of ASEAN countries at the White House.
From the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, President Jokowi went to the White House and arrived at around 5 PM local time.
When Jokowi arrived at the White House in the United States, he and his entourage were warmly welcomed by Joe Biden and his staff. Not only greeted, before entering the White House, President Jokowi took a photo with President Biden and leaders of other ASEAN countries.
After that, President Jokowi signed the state guest book, then headed to the Blue Room to join the dinner agenda.
During the dinner, President Jokowi had the opportunity to reply the President Biden's toast.

In his introductory toast, President Jokowi said that the ASEAN-US Special Summit was the right momentum to strengthen the ASEAN-US partnership in the future and welcomed in principle the ASEAN-US agreement to have a comprehensive strategic partnership. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is the highest status of partnership.
"This partnership is very important in the midst of the current world situation filled with uncertainty. For that, I invite all of us to raise the glass for the ASEAN-US partnership which continues to contribute to strengthening the values ??of multilateralism, regional peace and stability, the driving force of regional prosperity," said President Jokowi.
At around 8 PM local time, the dinner was over and President Jokowi left the White House to return to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The minister of foreign affairs, Retno Marsudi also accompanied the president Jokowi.
Previously, It was known that through the Asean official website and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Asean leaders and US President Joe Biden will meet to discuss ways and means to intensify cooperation in various fields.
The intended cooperation includes handling Covid-19, global health security, climate change, sustainable development, maritime cooperation, human resource development, education, as well as economic connectivity and engagement.
