VIVA – President Joko Widodo has announced a regulation on the application of health protocols related to the use of masks and health protocols for domestic and international travel. The Ministry of Transportation immediately responded to the instruction by issuing a number of rules related to travel conditions.
The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, welcomed the regulation relaxation process and believed that the move would have a positive impact on the transportation sector.
"We believe this policy can be a turning point for the revival of the transportation sector, which will also contribute to the revival of the Indonesian economy," said Budi Karya in his statement on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
The Minister of Transportation said that the decision to implement the easing of the health protocols taken by the government had taken into account the situation and conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, which had become increasingly under control.
Following up on this regulation, the Ministry of Transportation has also issued a Circular Letter for the Implementation of Domestic Travel, namely Circular Letter 54 of 2022 for land transportation, Circular Letter 55 of 2022 for sea transportation, Circular Letter 56 of 2022 for air transportation, and Circular Letter 57 of 2022. 2022 for rail transportation.

In addition, the Ministry of Transportation also issued a Circular letter for Foreign Travel, namely circular letter 58 for air transportation, circular letter 59 for sea transportation, and circular letter 60 for land transportation. The circular letter of the Ministry of Transportation was issued referring to the circular letter of the COVID-19 Task Force on Travel Provisions for People During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Namely circular letter Number 18 of 2022 for domestic travel and circular letter Number 19 of 2022 for foreign travel.

The government has also relaxed the PCR or Antigen swab test policy for travelers. For domestic and foreign travelers who have received a complete dose of vaccination (two doses), there is no need to carry out PCR or antigen swab tests.
When confirmed regarding complete vaccination, Ministry of Transportation Spokesperson, Adita Irawati confirmed that what is meant by complete vaccination is two vaccines.
"(The complete vaccination) was twice," Adita told to VIVA.
