SAR Team Still Looking for Ridwan Kamil's Son in Aare River

VIVA – Ridwan Kamil's son, Emmeril Khan Mumtadz, was reported missing in Bern, Switzerland on May 26, 2022 in Switzerland time. Until now, May 27, 2022, the man who is usually called Eril is still being looked for by the SAR team and the Switzerland Police.

This incident began when Eril was swimming in the Aare River with his sister and friends. When he wanted to rise to the surface, Eril was dragged by a fairly swift current. 

At the time of the incident, Ridwan Kamil and a delegation from the Regional Government of West Java Province were on an official trip for government activities in England on Thursday.

"At the time of the incident, Mr. Ridwan Kamil was in England on government activities abroad with a delegation from the West Java Provincial Government," said one family member, Elpi Nazmuzaman in a statement on Friday, May 27, 2022.

"Ridwan Kamil immediately went to Switzerland after receiving the news of the accident. So, he is currently meeting with his family there," he added.

Ridwan Kamil has arrived in Bern, Switzerland, and was greeted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Switzerland Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 1 am in Switzerland time.

After receiving the reports of Eril's missing contact, the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, Swiss has coordinated closely with the Swiss Police, the Swiss emergency line, and the nearest hospitals in the city of Bern.

On Thursday, the Bern city police deployed a search and rescue team consisting of river police, ambulance and firefighters in Bern to search all possible spots along the Aare River, from 10 am – 3 pm in  Switzerland time.

"The Switzerland police and the SAR team will continue the search process with a wider range this Friday, starting at 9 am in Swiss time until finished," explained the provincial government.

It is known that Emmeril was in Switzerland at that time looking for a school to continue his master's degree.
