All Regions of Indonesia Reach PPKM Level 1, Except Bintuni Bay

VIVA – The Directorate General of Regional Administration Development Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA explained that in the extension of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) this time all regions in Indonesia are at level 1 of PPKM and only 1 district is still at level 2.

"We should be grateful that after more than 2 years of struggling with COVID-19 prevention, in the extension of the Ministry of Home Affairs this time we see the condition is getting better. All regions (128 regencies/cities) in Java-Bali are at PPKM level 1," said the Directorate General of Regional Administration Development Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA by electronic message at Jakarta on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Furthermore, he said, for areas outside Java-Bali, 385 regencies/cities are in PPKM level 1 and only 1 district, namely Bintuni Bay Regency which is still at level 2.

"And there are no regencies or cities in Java, Bali and outside Java-Bali that are at level 3 and level 4," said Safrizal ZA.

The situation for dealing with COVID-19 in Indonesia shows that conditions are getting better. The implementation of Community Activities Restrictions Enforcement (PPKM) through the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 29 of 2022 for Regulation of PPKM in Java-Bali.

Also, the instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 30 of 2022 for PPKM Arrangements outside Java and Bali, which will take effect from June 7 to July 4, 2022.

Safrizal explained that the local government's assessment of the extension of the PPKM this time was carried out using the community transmission indicator on the indicators for adjusting public health efforts and social restrictions in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic set by the Minister of Health.

"The regional consequences that have been determined to be at level 1 mean that community activities can be said to be able to operate normally with a maximum capacity of 100 percent in various sectors," he said.

Safrizal also appealed that even though the renewal of the policy on the use of masks had been issued, the public still had to be aware of the potentials that could cause the transmission of COVID-19.

"As the government has said before, we have prepared a strategy towards the endemic status of COVID-19. So, for all people must continue to work optimally, so that our efforts can be realized immediately," added Safrizal.
